Although the Pilatus PC12 is the smallest aircraft in AFD’s fleet, it stands out for its agility and reliability. In fact, its compact design allows it to land in extremely remote locations, even without a formal landing strip. As a result, the PC12 has enabled AMREF Flying Doctors to evacuate hundreds of patients from some of Africa’s most isolated areas.

Accreditation

AMREF Flying Doctor is a pioneering air rescue service in Africa, notable for being the first non-European, non-US provider to receive full accreditation from the European Aeromedical Institute (EURAMI). EURAMI, one of only two global organizations that assess air ambulance services, awarded AMREF the highest level of accreditation, confirming its ability to transport high-risk patients to a high standard. This accreditation highlights that international standards in air medical care can be achieved worldwide, not just in first-world countries. AMREF Flying Doctor conducts up to 1000 evacuations annually, with 10 percent being charitable, and continues to set a high bar for patient care in Africa.
