We left Rwanda early Saturday morning, and the entire process was seamless. At the airport, all the paperwork was taken care of – I did not have to worry about anything. The aircraft was fully equipped with a stretcher, allowing my son to lie down comfortably, as he could not sit. Every safety precaution was clearly in place, and the medical team ensured he remained stable throughout the journey.
Upon arrival in Nairobi, another AMREF ambulance was already waiting for us on the runway. My son was carefully transferred from the aircraft by their professional team and placed comfortably into the ambulance. Once again, all immigration and hospital paperwork was handled for us, without any stress on my part.
We were then taken directly to the hospital, where my son was scheduled for surgery. Everything was clearly explained to me along the way, and the level of coordination was truly remarkable.
This door-to-door service gave me peace of mind during an incredibly frightening time. Thanks to AMREF Flying Doctors, I felt reassured every step of the way that my son was in safe hands and that everything would be okay.
