While working at the Serengeti National Park I suffered what later was diagnosed in Arusha to be a heart attack. The TZ doctor told me that there was nothing they could do for me in their country and that I had to be flown out. So my employer called Amref in Nairobi, who then send the King Air 200 to pick me up from Arusha and flew me to Wilson, where I was expected by an ambulance which took me to Aga Khan Hospital. All was managed very professionally I recommend that everybody who works in remote areas should make sure that the employer is insured with AMREF, I guess it saved my life.
